SO, I’ve been working a bit differently on the strip recently and I really like it. I don’t sketch anything (which is the benefit of only ever having to draw two characters most of the time)… I go straight into hand lettering and inking. I can do this because I draw digitally and because I know the characters really well by now.
But what I also do sometimes, which I really enjoy, is that I sit down at the Cintiq and start drawing without any idea at all or just some general idea of where I’m going. Often I don’t know the punchline until I’ve reached the last panel. Keeps me on my toes, makes things interesting and it’s a lot of fun. It also usually turns out funnier when my brain is not involved so much. So here’s the deal that I thought might be fun:
Give me ideas – just a topic, no more than TWO WORDS. Anything you can think of, no rules, except that there are no rules. You have until I say stop, and then I’ll pick one and draw the strip on (maybe on Ustream). Probably around 3 PM Eastern.
Then come back tomorrow and find out who wins. I won’t tell you right away. The winner gets a high quality signed print of the winning strip.
So get to it! I want LOTS of suggestions to choose from! And tell your friends!
